Over time the mortar between bricks, blocks, and stone will shift, crack, or crumble and in general deteriorate. Bricks & Stones can last hundreds of years, unfortunately mortar does not.
For 27yrs DTDS Tuckpointing St. Louis houses for waterproofing and long-life!
SECRET TO A GOOD JOB: MAKE SURE ALL OLD MORTAR IS REMOVED!

We use steel rakers or Diamond Blade angle grinders to remove old mortar ½” to 1” deep from head & bed joints to ensure the new mortar adheres.

Tuckpointing is sometimes called pointing or repointing; it is the precise labor intensive process of thoroughly removing deteriorating mortar & replacing with fresh new mortar. Tuckpointing St. Louis homes, our masonry specialty for 27 years-our best work!

*Homeowners BEWARE of skim-coating:
i.e. putting new mortar on top of old mortar without 1st removing the old. Notice in this photo(above) how the mortar joints are cut-out and clean as the new fresh mortar is applied…now that’s doing it correctly! Homeowners should never accept skim-coating…Why? Simply because it doesn’t last.
DTDS has NEVER skimcoated when Tuckpointing St. Louis - NEVER!
